Ryan is a thirty-something young man who works as a graphic designer disguised as a recreation therapist. Originally Ryan went to school for graphic design, but after working for a logo company doing sales, he realized sitting at a desk all day just wasn't going to cut it. He switched paths, and completed a bachelors degree in Recreation Management from Brigham Young University, a degree that has allowed him to have a whole lot of fun and get paid for it. Years later, he is now months away from completing a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from University of Phoenix. Through it all, he has turned to graphic design--particularly, designing uplifting and encouraging quotes--as a means to share his thoughts and bring encouragement to others. This has been therapeutic to him, giving him the chance to try to bring a little hope, happiness, and light to someone who might find themselves in the darkness of despair and discouragement.
In addition to being a graphic-designing-recreation-therapy-mental-health-counseling-grad-student, he is also a husband of a beautiful redhead, and father of an energetic little boy and bubbly little girl. Ryan tries to be open with his challenges and struggles as he feels such vulnerability opens others to receive the help they need. He struggled with pornography addiction from the time he was 12 to when he was 25--a fight he considers to have shaped him in many ways by giving him compassion for others, a need to embrace the goodness in life wholeheartedly, and a deep desire to fight the darkness of the world by spreading encouragement and light.
Ryan believes all of us have something to contribute to the world to make it a better place, no matter how small that contribution may be. From his mental health experience, he has learned the value that a smile, a laugh, or kind word can mean for a person having a rough day. Creating his "remindables" has allowed him to connect with people throughout the world, offering encouragement that lifts them, and Ryan as well. He has always said that he wants to change the world and he intends to. One remindable at a time.
